20/12/17Seaward NOA Chichester Award
A recent post here described Seaward’s long involvement with the National Open Art Competition. The competition has previously been open to children and young people but this year a dedicated children’s competition was established for the first time. One of the prizes was the Seaward NOA Chichester Award which was presented at a special event at Chichester’s Oxmarket Gallery on 14 December.
The gallery is housed in a Grade II listed medieval church in the heart of the city. The main gallery was hung with an impressive array of work by artists aged from 2 to 14.
Making a final choice for the Seaward NOA Chichester Award was a difficult task. The very worthy recipient was Lottie Russon (12) for her work entitled Lost Memories (mixed media, pen, paper). Here is how Lottie described her work.

This is an incredibly insightful piece of work which struck a chord with many people who saw it. We were delighted that Lottie and her family were able to attend the event to receive her prize and a cheque for the art department of her school.
Please accept our gratitude for the prize cheque. As a school, it has given us much pride in knowing that one of our students, Lottie, presented a work of art that has been recognised by NOA as worthy; and we would like to acknowledge that the full amount will go towards helping our Arts department in all areas
A number of other special prizes were awarded on the evening including one to 11 year old Betty Durrant for her worked entitled Boat Trip.
These are my characters Lion, Foxy, Penelope,Victoria, Ava, Josie, Daddy Robot and Baby Robot. They are in a boat floating down a calm peaceful river, laden with flowers.
